Faster-than-light Photography, Everybody

Watch this video on YouTube.

Watch the full video for some impressive video of a laser beam going through a pop bottle, and then a video of a photo flash illuminating a tomato one small section at a time. Truly extraordinary. Later, he explains how this technology can see around walls by bouncing a laser off other walls and monitoring how it bounces back. Basically working like sonar, but with LASERS!
I heard about the camera months ago, but I just now found out about the video. Pretty cool to see the laser travel through the bottle in super slow motion.

Curious Rover And The Red Planet

on August 6, 2012
Posted In: Blog

The first thing the Curiosity rover is curious about: Its wheel!

If you haven’t heard, the Curiosity rover has just now landed on Mars, and the camera didn’t get too dusty. I was expecting to only see dust in the photo, but they got some pretty clear images. The first images are only 256 x 256 pixels, but considering it takes 14 minutes to send any data that distance, that’s great.

Congratulations, NASA.

Update: This image was taken with its protective cover still on. Clearer photos with the protective cover off are coming in now.
